To organize my experience in words it is better to talk about the browser’s features one by one and my experience with each feature. Here is Firefox Browser Review: My Experience.

PDF Viewer

The user interface of the Firefox PDF viewer is minimalistic, taking up little screen real estate and providing a clear, unobtrusive experience. The UI consists of a toolbar that is horizontal and sits beneath the address bar. All the controls you need are available here to manage document seamlessly. For starters, let’s break down the Toggle Sidebar and Navigation of this browser. Users can easily navigate by opening or closing a sidebar by using the “toggle sidebar” button located on the left side of the toolbar. Next to it are a page count indicator and navigation arrows, which make it easy to navigate the document.

Another great addition to the PDF viewer of Firefox is Zoom Controls. Easily accessible zoom controls in the center allow users to customize the document view for the best readability. Extras include Opening the document in a new tab option, full-screen view, printing, and downloading buttons.

To increase the viewer’s adaptability, there is a menu button on the far right that offers more viewing options. These include rotating the document and altering the spread layout. Firefox lets users disable the built-in viewer in favor of third-party tools if they’d rather use a different one. This adaptability guarantees that users can personalize their experience viewing PDFs to suit their tastes.

Device Sync

With Firefox’s Device Sync feature, users can easily synchronize their browser data across several devices. All you need to set up a Firefox account is an email address, which is very simple. Users can sync bookmarks, passwords, add-ons, and other data once they’re logged in, so no matter what device they use, they can always access their critical data.

Mozilla emphasizes that backing up data is not the same as synchronizing it. The data is irreversibly lost if the browser is removed without first syncing. Therefore, before making any major changes to the browser installation, it is imperative to sync data.

To keep data private and separate on shared computers, the best approach is to create individual user profiles. To access customized settings, each user can sign into the same browser using their Firefox account. Instead of logging into a Firefox account, users can create separate profiles, albeit this is a more laborious process.

Users can add, remove, and modify profiles with Mozilla’s profile manager, giving them flexibility for a variety of usage scenarios. Through the use of Firefox Sync and profile management, users can keep their browsing experience secure and customized on all of their devices.

Reading List

Reading List offers an offline reading mode where users can read webpages that they have downloaded. It is an intuitive feature that allows users to read that article, story, or statistics when they don’t have an internet connection. Sadly, this specific feature within the reading list is only available on iOS devices. People who want a similar experience on Windows and Android can use the PocketNow app.

Context Menu

The context menu in Firefox provides a number of standard browser functions, including text copying and pasting and page saving. But it also has some special and useful features that distinguish it from other programs, such as Google Chrome. Among its notable features is the integrated screenshot tool.

You can quickly get to the “Take Screenshot” option by right-clicking anywhere on a webpage. With the help of this tool, users can take screenshots of the entire page or just specific elements for more focused shots. In order to provide more accuracy, users can also change the selection box’s size and shape to concentrate on particular regions. It is not common to find this convenient feature in other browsers.

Moreover, Firefox’s context menu offers strong web development tools. An additional feature of the standard “Inspect” tool is “Inspect Accessibility Properties.” Developers can now examine the accessibility properties of any webpage element by using this feature, which opens the accessibility panel within the inspect element view. With its comprehensive insights into a page’s accessibility features, this tool is invaluable for making sure web content complies with accessibility standards.

Dark Theme

Firefox Mozilla offers selective appearance options where users can choose, the default light theme or dark theme. After knowing about the theme options of this browser, I immediately switched to a dark theme as it looked aesthetically pleasing and pleasant to the eye as well. You can change your Firefox browser to the dark theme by going to “add-ons and themes”. There are variations of light themes available under the theme section. You can customize the theme further by adding more themes from the add-ons library of Mozilla.

Ease of Use (Browsing Experience)

With a focus on user-friendliness, Mozilla Firefox provides a smooth browsing experience across desktop and mobile platforms. The sophisticated Firefox Quantum engine from Mozilla powers the user interfaces of both versions, guaranteeing a quick and easy experience.

Firefox’s desktop version is user-friendly and simplified. The browser’s interface consists of a settings menu situated in the upper-right corner, a bookmarks bar, and a standard search bar. The settings icon (three horizontal bars) can be clicked to display a full menu of actions that can be conveniently hidden when not in use. The uncluttered browsing experience is maintained by this simple design, which also makes the necessary tools easily accessible.

Firefox’s mobile version is just as simple and functional as its desktop counterpart, so users will always have the same experience using it on different devices. Because it is touch-optimized, the mobile interface is simple to use and navigate on smaller screens.

The address bar in Firefox automatically suggests searches as you type, making it more user-friendly. Your search history and algorithms are responsible for such suggestions that you see when tying in the search bar. By changing the settings, users can customize the kinds of suggestions that are shown.

Firefox provides localized search results for users in the United States through “contextual suggestions,” which are based on user engagement and location data at the city level. Firefox places a strong emphasis on user privacy, saying that in order to produce these recommendations, it does not gather or share user data.

Performance

Firefox Quantum Engine is the core of this browser that determines the overall experience and performance. It’s safe to say that before 2017, this engine was poor, resulting in a very less user base. After the Quantum update in Firefox 57, the engine of the browser went through a complete overhaul changing the course of its future.

The RAM usage and loading time supposedly improved with the new Quantum project overhaul. Although many people have missed noticing such changes, testing has certainly shown the reality of Mozilla and where it stands.

In a comparison between popular browsers in the market like Chrome, Opera, and Brace, multiple tests were conducted. The benchmark of the Speedometer test gives Mozilla Firefox, a 95.6 score which is the least among 4 other browsers.

Let’s take a look at another test in Motion Mark benchmark. Here you can see that Mozilla scores the lowest with just 145.93 and the nearest score from that is Vivaldi with 285.25, others are miles ahead.

Judging from the metrics shown in tests, it is true that Mozilla still needs a lot of work in terms of its engine that is running the whole show. It consumes resources which is almost the same as Chrome which is infamously known for its resource consumption. However, the engine is certainly an improvement from the previous one.

Security

Firefox claims in its privacy policy that they do not sell your data or buy it from other sources. It is a relief that the privacy security aspect of Mozilla Firefox is top-notch. To add to that, you can even get rid of trackers by using the dedicated privacy mode. Mozilla Firefox has never been in a serious scandal while Chrome has been accused of privacy violations several times. However, there have been some reports of memory corruption in Firefox which was immediately fixed by the developers.

Conclusion

You have better options when it comes to browsers as compared to using Mozilla Firefox. However, that does not mean that Firefox is a bad choice. Your day-to-day browsing experience will be a breeze with a few hiccups. The customization, security, and ease of use have been positive in my experience. Moreover, this browser will not hog up your storage space. It is a good choice for many but there are certainly better options available for all types of users rather than using Mozilla Firefox.
